Meet Olivia!
WCC Friends,
Though we live in troubling times, we have some exciting news to share.
Today we are introducing the newest member of our cooperative, officially taking us from two to three! Having travelled from Texas all the way to New York, Olivia (Ze/hir, She/her) works as an Applied Theatre artist, barista, and community organiser.
As a trans non-binary womxn (who’s never been to seminary) Olivia hopes to bring a different perspective and outlook to our work here at the Working Class Christianity writing cooperative.
It had always been Chris and Chase’s dream to bring on more contributor-members to the team, and so it is exciting for us to see WCC no longer be two, but three! And now that we are three, this means more content for you and your faith community.
Having said that, if you haven’t checked out Chris’ latest post “COVID-19 and the Working Class” we’d love for you to check that out. Chris questions the underlying intent of the capitalist’s and the State’s “healing” of the economy by getting workers back to work, and we think it’s a critical issue for us to engage sooner rather than later.
So far, we’ve written about the value of working people’s time, the potential power in seeing our workers as neighbors, and the similar promises that capitalism and certain kinds of Christianity make. If there are particular topics you think your faith community would find interesting/helpful, feel free to say hello at workingclasschristianity@gmail.com or hit us up on twitter!
In prayerful solidarity,
Olivia, Chris, and Chase
